5 Easy Steps to Resolve Your Unresponsive iPhone Touchscreen

Having an iPhone can be the pinnacle of convenience as it provides such ease and simplicity with its interface. However, that user experience might be all for naught when the touch screen suddenly stops working, ignoring every swipe or tap that you try to make. It can be rather frustrating as an unresponsive touchscreen just renders the phone completely useless.

However, you don’t need to give up hope. There are a couple of ways on how you can resolve and fix up your iPhone touchscreen so that you can access whatever app or contact whoever you need. Keep reading to find out what you can do to resolve the responsiveness issue.

1) Inspect the Screen Protector

Some might have a faulty screen protector on their iPhone, with the application all wrong and inhibiting the actual model’s touch screen. Try to hold your phone at an angle to check whether the screen protector is stuck to the touchscreen properly. Removing and reapplying the screen protector, or getting a replacement, might be the quick fix you need.

2) Try Force Restarting

If the previous step didn’t do the trick, perhaps a little restart is all that you’re going to need. Some phones may be responsive enough to allow you to swipe the power off slider, but you may need to force restart it if the phone’s feeling stubborn.

Different models will have to be restarted differently. For example, iPhone X and later models would need to hold down the side button and volume button simultaneously, while earlier ones just need to long-press the side button.

3) Manually Update the Phone

When the touchscreen isn’t responding after rebooting, the next best thing to do is to update the phone. Connect the device to your computer to manually put it into Recovery Mode. Once your data has been secured, select the option to update your iPhone’s operating system and test it out right after. Any software issues that are affecting the touchscreen should be fixed.

4) Restore the Whole iPhone

Any underlying touchscreen issues that haven’t been fixed with the operating system update might be resolved with a factory reset. Use your computer to navigate the phone once again, putting it in recovery mode before you restore your iPhone to its usual factory settings. Do take note that your device will be reset, removing whatever data you haven’t backed up.

5) Seek a Repair Kit and Support

Some may want to skip step 4, which can be understandable if you have several precious photos, videos and texts on your phone. If you’re going to repair the touchscreen on your own, the best course of action is to get a repair kit and seek support.

By getting the right resources and guide to fix up your iPhone’s screen, you may be able to retain the data that you have on it while fixing the issue. Take care in handling your phone’s hardware, though, to ensure that it’s still intact when you put it back together.

Unresponsive iPhone touchscreens can be quite annoying to deal with, but it’s important to face the issues and rectify them as soon as possible to use your mobile device again. Practice a bit of patience while tending to the problem.
